Why We Want Books to Be an Important part of our Children's Lives

A few weeks ago I got to school a little early to pick up AR. They were having story time and I found her right up front, soaking in her teachers every word. She loves books and has since day one. The same goes for H. Any time we are playing he runs over to his stack of his books. He usually picks up the Peppa Pig one (his absolute favorite). "Mama Peppa Booooook" are his usual words. Although we can only make it a couple of pages before he is one to the next thing. I think it's so important for my children to always want to read. I don't ever want them to feel forced to read in their teen and adult years. I want them to just love it and I know that love starts now.

Reading them books daily and always letting them "read" to me  plays a huge factor in that. Of course like any family they watch tv. I'm not going to sugar coat it. Those days when I'm exhausted and need to get things done they will watch a movie.

We aren't the family that owns an iPad. (although this mama really wishes I had one.) When we pack the bag to go out of the house I always encourage to kids to throw in a few books. While we are in the car, waiting at a resturant, or waiting in line some where they can look at books instead of always being glued to the phones watching youtube. Now of course there are moments when they are being crazies and we take out the iPhones way fast and turn on Disney Jr. I mean come on we are only human!

Bookroo makes it easy for that to happen. They send you a monthly subscription box of books that are perfect for your baby. You can choose either board books or picture books. They are sweetly wrapped and my kiddos had so much fun opening them to find their books!

I want these sweet little souls to group up knowing a world beyond electronics. I want them to grow up not depending on them. Alright mama's who's ready to raise little book worms!?

Head over to Bookroo today to sign up for yours!

what is your "WHY"

It's currently 5:28 am as I'm writing this. In the "notes" app of my phone while my husband snores next to me. I've got two snoozing babies in their rooms.
Have you ever seen the Sarah Jessica Parker movie "I don't know how she does it" that movie is like every mothers reality. It doesn't matter if you are a mom of one, two, five or ten. If you work at home, away from or work 7 jobs. The scene when she falls asleep waiting for her husband to get out of the bathroom only to wake up a few hours later- wide awake going over "the list" I do this at least three times a week. Don't get me wrong I'm totally exhausted but it's like a little switch us moms just can't turn off.
When I started my blog back in 2012 it was to write. Document our life as a family. Write about the things I did as a stay at home mom with a new born baby in a brand new town. I've still got the blog. It's filled with stories and sweet little unplanned, un staged I phone 4 photos. To be honest I'm probably the only one that ever read it. And some times I posted once every couple of months If that But it nurtured my soul.
A couple years later I started sharing more of the things I loved (still unsponsored, unplanned, I phone pictures) I really loved it. This past March I decided to turn my love into a priority. I've had some amazing women/bloggers who guided my in the right direction in March. I was clueless when it came to the blogging world. All I knew was My love for writing, sharing my heart and posting way to many baby pictures.
It makes my heart so happy to think about where this journey has taken me. To be able to turn something that I love into a job is incredible to me. But I'm not going to lie. There have been times I've lost my "WHY" a couple of days ago I thought to myself "I have nothing to post on Instagram." And now that thought sounds silly. I can post whatever the hell I want on Instagram. Why does it have to be a staged photo from my camera? My "WHY" is writing about the things I love and the people I love. It doesn't matter if your a doctor, a business owner, a stay at home mom, a blogger- whatever you are. Just find your why. Why are you doing what you do?
Here's to sharing my heart more and less "I love this product because it's awesome" post. Having a little bit of everything is where I'm at lol.
Okay now it's officially 6:04am. My husband snoozed his alarm which means he's skipping the gym. If I go to sleep now I'll Have about 20 minutes before babies wake up. I should probably just go start the coffee huh?
Xoxo, the mama who will be exhausted at 10am

Oh wait... the tiniest baby is up. I'll be taking full advantage of nap time today!

Valentine's Day Goodies

Thank you Bootay Bag for Sponsoring this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I've never been one who really loves celebrating Valentine's Day. Like any girl I appreciate some flowers of course! but flowers, maybe dinner cooked at home, and a relaxing night is perfect for me. My husband and I don't get each other huge gifts and I love that. We are pretty simple!

I do however like to get something for myself (or hubby) every now and then. Not just on Valentine's day. When I came across Bootay Bag I was completely intrigued. Don't get me wrong I love a good Victorie's Secret shopping trip but getting undies delivered to my door? Um hello, Yes please!

Bootay Bag is a monthly subscription of some totally adorable underwear for get this.. $12 a month. Let's get real ladies you can't beat that! In my February delivery I got two (TOTALLY ADORABLE) pairs of lace undies.

As a mom I think it's so important to take care of myself. When I feel my best, our family just seems to run more smooth. I'm completely obsessed with my subscription and can't wait to see what February's delivery looks like. Ladies make sure you get yours!

Toddler Approved Makeup: Little Cosmetics

*Thanks Little Cosmetics for sponsoring this post! All opinions are my own.

Happy Monday!

Unfortunately, we have a sick baby boy at our house. Hayes has the dreaded RSV virus. It's not fun for anyone!

Thankfully he took a good long nap this afternoon and woke up feeling a lot better. Now we just wait for it to past! While he was napping Addie Rivers and I got to spend some time just the two of us. We both adore that time. As a mom to a little girl I want to teach her the importance of feeling beautiful without makeup. This Little Cosmetics sweetheart set is perfect for that. She can pretend to be a big girl and this mama doesn't have to worry about harmful chemicals from other "pretend" makeup.
When our family made a lifestyle change to strive to live healthier we are always cautious about what products we are using.

I am so thankful Little Cosmetics sees the importance of "pretend" makeup. It is perfect for little ladies! Mess free, free of toxins and toddler approved!

Beauty Counter Must Haves

It's completely normal to fall off of the bandwagon from time to time. But to be honest it makes me a little sad how much our family did when we made our big move. It takes time to get back into a routine and get adjusted and I know that. Ya'll I'm a mama to precious little babies. Im not only trying to protect myself from harmful ingredients but our children are the future. We should be doing everything in our power to protect them and give them the best options, teach them the importance of living a healthy lifestyle, and just to be healthier over all.

There are times I give into them having too much sugar. (like all moms do)
I know everything in moderation is fine but the overall aspect of it is just frightening. Why do we choose to slather them in cheap body wash and lotion? Read the ingredients. do your research.

I'm not writing this to freak everyone out but to offer you a better option.

Beautycounter is out there for a reason. It's because people are finally realizing how terrible some of the ingredients we use are. Beautycounter will help ensure that you are making the best choices when it comes to your cosmetics, face wash, hair care, and babies skin care.

I'm here to help you find those! Ladies let's all take a stand and start taking better care of ourselves and our families.

Some of my favorite products are the tint skin foundation, the charcoal bar, the blush palette, and of course the entire baby line!

Spring Weather Where are You featuring Angie's Boutique

Happy Tuesday Ladies!

I love all things about Christmas, cozy sweaters and fires but after January the cold weather can just go on. Am I right? I'm sure everyone else in the south would agree with me. Freezing cold weather one day- 75 degrees the next. My sinuses are out of control!

If you didn't know I wear about 30 hats. Seriously though, when I'm not blogging or running one of the businesses I'm a working girl. Some small towns aren't as fortunate as we are. Some have to travel 30 miles to get some really cute clothes but not us! Our small town is close to Oxford, MS and Memphis, TN and don't get me wrong I love good shopping  trip but its SO nice to have an amazing boutique here in our town.

And I promise you I'm not jut saying this because I work at this store lol. On Tuesdays and Thursdays I send the babies to school and go to work. When I first started I just knew my paycheck would probably go right back to the clothing but post days I've learned to keep it together!

The best past is we have an online store! Yep- so you don't have to live around here to get your hands on some of the latest trends. Just head over to the website, Facebook and instgram to check things out!
